Happy 60th Disneyland: A Personal Reflection

Since Walt Disney’s opening day speech on July 17th, 1955, a lot has changed. Old attractions have been replaced with the new, cast members have come and gone, and technology has evolved so much during the last 60 years that even old Walt would be impressed.

Disneyland continues to push the limits and inspires people all over the world to pursue their dreams. When I was a little girl, my mom would take my childhood friend Rachel (Coffee and Rae) and I to Disneyland in our matching Dalmatian coats. Growing up, I would sing along to the movies while dancing in costume on top of our dining room kitchen table. When I used to work for the Walt Disney Company about two years ago as a performer, I saw a side of Disneyland that not many get to see from behind the scenes. Every day I look back on the happy memories of the cast members I met and the friends I made. To put it simply, I feel extremely fortunate to have those experiences!

Fast forward to today at almost 23-years-old, I’m still a kid at heart (just check out my Tsum Tsum collection) and as a Disneyland annual passholder the park is still a huge part of my life. Disney inspires me to dream big, have hope, and to travel the world. To say the least, I owe many thanks to Disneyland for sparking that fire.

Happy 60th Birthday Disneyland!

“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.”
